EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Relief When It’s Needed Most

Our Impact

Our Service Sector

Education

ADRA Uganda’s experience in basic education programming include: teaching skills improvement for teachers and management training for school managers; life skills training and provision of scholastic materials for pupils/students; child sponsorships for needy children; supporting school feeding projects in schools; provision of adult literacy and vocational skills for youths and adults; construction/renovation of schools and provision WASH facilities; and engaging in advocacy for access to quality and equitable inclusive education.

Community Health

Health is at the very core of much of the Uganda's poverty and suffering. Deadly diseases leave parents without children, and children with no families must fend for themselves. We work in partnership communities on improving and sustaining health. We adopt a community-level approach to address unique needs of populations, including capacity building of health professionals, increasing access to health information and health facilities, and improving the quality of health resources. Beyond the community-level, our work strengthens health systems by supporting district and national-level facilities and staff.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

ADRA Business Uganda seeks to support agribusiness development in areas of technological intensification, trainings and value chain development.

LIVELIHOODS + FOOD SECURITY

ADRA Uganda has strong experience in empowering communities and farmers’ groups through training in agronomic practices, nutrition, appropriate technologies, value addition, and supply of quality agricultural inputs.

WATER + HYGIENE + SANITATION

We have been addressing these issues for 30 years, installing filters that clean contaminated water, digging wells, and installing water pipes where water is available yet inaccessible. Our initiatives also educate communities about sanitation and the fatal danger of waterborne diseases.

Responding to disasters and providing relief to communities is a powerful part of the work that ADRA does. ADRA’s global presence and ability to preposition emergency resources allow us to respond immediately.

ADRA Uganda’s emergency management includes short-term life saving, long-term and resilience building programs. For short-term assistance, ADRA acts to relieve immediate emergency needs including shelter, clothing, food medical treatment and education. After the immediate needs are covered, ADRA Uganda supports rehabilitation and long-term development programmes including disaster risk reduction and mitigation depending on availability of funds.
